Wafic Saïd

Wafic Rida Saïd is a businessman and philanthropist whose career in the business world spans close to six decades.

Alongside his business career, Wafic Saïd maintains extensive charitable interests. He is the founder and Chairman of the Saïd Foundation, a non-sectarian and non-political charity, and the founding benefactor of the Saïd Business School at Oxford University.

Wafic Saïd set up Saïd Holdings Limited in 1987 to manage the bulk of his family investments. This followed a career of nearly two decades focused on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he established one of the most successful project management and construction businesses in the country. He also co-founded Sagitta Asset Management in 1995, which was later sold to Fleming Family and Partners, and started his career at UBS in Geneva, before becoming a restaurateur in London with the acclaimed Caravanserai.

Wafic Saïd’s support of the Saïd Business School Foundation enabled the building of Oxford University's business school in 1996, and since then has supported its pursuit of excellence, most recently with a donation to enable construction of the School’s new Global Leadership Centre. The Saïd Business School is now among the leading business schools in the world.

Together with his wife Rosemary, Wafic Saïd established the Saïd Foundation in 1982 to promote education and development in the Middle East by providing educational and training opportunities to outstanding students from the region who demonstrate the potential to become leaders and innovators of change.
